How to Spend 7 Days in Istria?
December 8, 2025One of the most popular islands in Croatia is Korčula. Lucky visitors to Korčula have the opportunity to taste local cuisine, stroll through the old town, and refresh themselves in the crystal-clear waters surrounding the island. To make your experience complete, we’ve prepared a list of the most important places and activities you can enjoy during your stay on Korčula.
1. Beaches
Korčula is worth visiting for its perfect beaches alone. The island’s coastline is filled with coves and beaches accessible by car, scooter, or boat. The crystal-clear sea surrounds the island of Korčula. Some of the most stunning and unique beaches include Pupnatska Luka on the southern side of the island, the sandy beach of Pržina in Lumbarda, and St. Nicholas Beach located in the town of Korčula itself. Book your stay in apartments or rooms on Korčula from our carefully selected private accommodation offer.
2. Moreška
The most famous traditional performance, dating back to the 17th century, is held throughout the summer, with the most popular show taking place on July 29th — the Feast Day of St. Theodore, the patron saint of Korčula. This sword dance originated from European cultural trends of the 17th century. It depicts a story in which the Arab king Moro kidnaps a beautiful maiden called the “bula,” sparking a battle between the armies of the white and black kings. The fight ends with the maiden being returned to the Turkish king Osman.
3. Korčula City Museum
Located in the Gabrijelis Palace, which faithfully represents 16th-century architecture on the island of Korčula, the Korčula Town Museum showcases collections of items used in stone masonry and shipbuilding, as well as various artifacts — including a piano from 1819 once played by Beethoven’s friend, Edith Streich.
4. St. Anthony's Head
Head toward Lumbarda and discover a unique religious monument and a protected example of park architecture. It is a church built in the 14th century, accessible via 102 steps lined on both sides with cypress trees planted in 1708. In addition, the view from the top of Glavica over the Korčula archipelago is absolutely spectacular.
5. Badija
Just a 20-minute easy boat ride from the coast of Korčula separates you from this uninhabited islet, where you can anchor your boat almost anywhere and enjoy the sea and sun in complete peace and quiet. Badija covers an area of one square kilometer and is entirely covered with pine forest and Mediterranean scrub. The island is adorned by a 15th-century monastery, from which it takes its name.
6. St. Mark's Cathedral
Throughout the entire 15th century, work was carried out on the construction of this cathedral, which, with its Gothic-Renaissance style, enriches the cultural and historical heritage of the island of Korčula. It was designed by Italian architects but was mostly built by local craftsmen.
7. Oenology
To end on a sweet note, it’s worth mentioning Korčula’s signature drink – wine. Winemaking on the island has a thousand-year-old tradition, passed down through generations and still thriving today. The grapes grown under the Korčula sun are a delicacy in themselves. Pošip, Rukavac, Grk, or Plavac Mali – you can’t go wrong. Enjoy a glass with freshly caught fish and surrender yourself to the perfect holiday experience.
