Croatia, with its indented Adriatic coastline, is widely known for its numerous islands. For many, islands are favorite dream vacation destinations. Surrounded by the sea on all sides, with beautiful, untouched beaches – islands are a timeless inspiration for summer holidays.

Although the Adriatic is popular for its islands, we’ll introduce you to some lesser-known island oases in Croatia. Many haven’t heard of them (though we believe some certainly have), yet they hide magical natural treasures and are ideal destinations for a summer getaway!

• LASTOVO – a remote island, "unspoiled" by crowds, offers an authentic Adriatic experience. The beauty of its nature is confirmed by the fact that Lastovo Island, along with the nearby islands, has been declared a nature park. • MLJET – one of Croatia’s greenest islands hides fascinating natural beauty. Part of the island is a protected national park where you can stay, cycle, swim in the “sea lakes,” while the other side of the island boasts beautiful sandy beaches.

• VIS – formerly a Greek colony named Issa, today Vis Island, will captivate you with its beauty. Be sure to visit its three sea caves, including the world-renowned Blue Cave. • DUGI OTOK – another in a series of islands with fascinating nature.
