TOP 10 Beaches on the Adriatic for Families with Children
December 13, 2025The year 1936 is considered the beginning of nudism in Croatia, when King Edward VIII of England bathed nude on the Kandarola beach on the island of Rab. The tradition of nudism continues today – thanks to hidden coves and beaches that are ideal for swimming without clothes, as well as many official FKK (Freikörperkultur) beaches. Just for you, we’ve selected 6 nudist FKK beaches that will delight you with their beauty and suitability for “nude swimming.”
1. Ostupa Beach (Orebić on the Pelješac Peninsula)

The Pelješac Peninsula has for years been one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia.
The proximity to the city of Dubrovnik, local seafood specialties, distinctive red wine, and many beaches surrounded by pine forests continue to enchant tourists.
Those who enjoy swimming without clothing will also find something for themselves here. In the town of Orebić, just east of Trstenica Beach, lies the pebble beach Ostupa.
The beach is surrounded by forest, allowing guests to take shelter from the intense summer sun. The sea entry is accessible, and visitors can cool off in the showers or enjoy refreshments at a nearby bar.
2. Nugal Beach (Tučepi)

After Pelješac, we head to the also popular Makarska Riviera, specifically to Nugal Beach near the tourist village of Tučepi.
The journey there is a beautiful experience – it takes you through the Osejava forest, which connects Makarska and Tučepi. Since the terrain is uneven and the walk to the beach takes about 30 minutes, we recommend not wearing flip-flops or sandals, but rather proper walking shoes.
This pebble beach is far enough from civilization to enjoy its serenity undisturbed.
That also means you’ll need to bring food, drinks, sunscreen, and an umbrella, as Nugal Beach offers no natural shade.
3. Paklina Beach (Bol, Island of Brač)

West of the world-famous Zlatni Rat beach lies Paklina Beach, which consists of several smaller hidden coves, making it a good choice for swimming without clothing. From there, you can also enjoy a view of Zlatni Rat.
Book accommodation in Bol on Brač and take a walk to this lovely pebble beach.
However, be sure to bring your own food and drinks, as there are no shops or restaurants nearby.
4. Jerolim Beach – (Pakleni Islands, Hvar)

On the Pakleni Islands (also known as the Paklinski Islands), near the island of Hvar, lies the secluded islet of St. Jerolim, home to a beach that CNN ranked among the 15 best nudist beaches in the world. The islet can be reached by private or taxi boat, which departs several times a day from Hvar during the season. The ride takes about 20 minutes. Jerolim Beach is marked FKK (Freikörperkultur), meaning it is an official naturist beach. The beach offers a restaurant and showers.
Interestingly, another official nudist bathing area – Stipanska – is located nearby.
5. Sahara (Island of Rab)

Sail away to the paradise island of Rab, where countless sandy beaches await, most of which are located in the settlement of Lopar — a place that enjoys great popularity among tourists from all over the world.
Naturists will be particularly interested in Sahara Beach, named after the majestic African desert. This fine sandy beach is a 30-minute walk from the popular Paradise Beach. In addition to walking, you can also reach Sahara by bicycle or by private or rented boat. Be sure to bring everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay and enjoy the peace and beauty of Sahara Beach.
6. Kandarola (Rab)

The nudist beach Kandarola in Palit on the island of Rab is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic. It was precisely on this beach in 1936 that King Edward VIII of England bathed nude, thus beginning the long-standing tradition of nudism on the island of Rab.
The beach is well-equipped. You’ll find showers, cafés, bars, restaurants, water slides for children, and a beach volleyball court.
More and more people from all over the world come to enjoy this beach, known for its dense pine forest and the almost emerald color of its clear sea.
