December 15, 2025To help you find the perfect beach where you can unwind from everyday life while your little ones stay entertained—splashing in the shallows, building sandcastles, or making friends with local kids—we’ve put together a list of the 10 best beaches for both children and adults. Trust us, it wasn’t easy narrowing it down to just 10, as behind every beach there’s another beautiful cove… and then another… and another...
1. Brela – Makarska Riviera

Brela is synonymous with stunning, kilometer-long beaches, but we’d like to highlight the Punta Rata beach in particular. This pebbled beach has a sandy seabed at the entrance to the water and is surrounded by pine trees that provide shelter even during the hottest part of the day. Around the beach, you'll find numerous eateries, restaurants, and bars—perfect for a refreshing break. The natural surroundings are well-preserved, and the sea is crystal clear.
2. Crikvenica Riviera

Just like last year, we couldn’t pick the best beach in Crikvenica, and the same goes for this year. The sandy Crni Molo Beach in Crikvenica and Poli Mora Beach in Selce are absolute favorites among swimmers. You can cool off in the shallow waters of Crni Molo, where water aerobics classes are held, while Poli Mora is tucked into a beautiful and clean cove in the center of Selce. Numerous amenities allow for a full day of relaxation by the sea, and there are no barriers for people with disabilities—accessible entrances are provided throughout.
3. Biograd na Moru

Dražica Beach is located right in the heart of town. Set beside a dense pine forest and a well-maintained promenade, the beach is covered in fine pebbles and offers plenty of fun attractions for the youngest visitors—a true mini amusement park with a slide, bumper cars, water slide, trampoline, and more. Lining the beach are numerous cafés and snack bars, and the Blue Flag proudly flies overhead, a sign of its cleanliness and quality.
4. Zaton

Zaton, near Zadar, welcomes you with a mixed sand-and-pebble beach about 1.5 kilometers long. Children will love it for its shallow sea, play equipment, and fun educational programs led by experienced animators, while you can relax peacefully in the shade of trees knowing that trained lifeguards are on duty. The beach also proudly displays the Blue Flag, an international symbol of sustainable sea and coastal management.
5. Baška, Krk Island

The main beach in Baška, Vela Plaža, stretches for about 2 km and is located right in the center of town. This natural pebbled beach can accommodate several thousand swimmers and boasts a Blue Flag, a gradual entry into the sea, shallow waters, and crystal-clear water with excellent visibility—making it especially suitable for children and non-swimmers. It is surrounded by restaurants and cafés for refreshments, as well as shops and entertainment options. Nearby, there’s a fun center with water slides and games, and you can also rent pedal boats, windsurfing boards, umbrellas, and loungers for a more comfortable stay.
6. Orebić, Pelješac Peninsula.

Trstenica is a pebbled beach with a gentle sandy entrance into the sea, making it especially suitable for small children. Various water sports equipment, sun loungers, and umbrellas can be rented on-site, and the dense canopies of Mediterranean trees offer natural shade. This long beach, which gradually slopes into the sea, welcomes large numbers of swimmers during peak season—so we recommend arriving early to claim your perfect spot under the Orebić sun.
7. Nin, Zadar Riviera.

The Nin Lagoon, also known as Queen’s Beach, is a long sandy beach ideal for families with children and the elderly. It is also famous for its therapeutic mud, a treatment renowned since Roman times. At Queen’s Beach, children can enjoy building sandcastles and playing in the warm, shallow water.
8. Omiš

The town beach is the main summer gathering spot. Along one kilometer of well-maintained and clean shoreline, you’ll find plenty of additional amenities. Children will love the soft sand brought in by the nearby Cetina River, while parents will appreciate the hundred meters of shallow water and the beachfront cafés and restaurants.
9. Lopar, Rab Island

With its 22 sandy beaches, Lopar is a true destination for the picky traveler. One of its biggest advantages is the safety it offers swimmers—especially children—who can freely enjoy the shallow and warm waters of the Paradise Beach.
10. Duće

Near Omiš, the kilometer-long Duće Beach attracts both children and adults with its soft sand. While adults enjoy playing picigin and beach volleyball, the youngest visitors build sandcastles and "bake" sand cakes. The wide, shallow shoreline allows even small children and non-swimmers to enjoy the sea safely. The beach is surrounded by dense tree canopies that provide pleasant shade throughout the day, and the coastline is lined with numerous bars and restaurants.
